A short course on the NorCal Extreme billing system

This document expains how NorCal Extreme (NCE) handles monthly fees and where your money goes.

Monthly dues

To save money on postage and streamline the billing system, NCE will no longer send out monthly bills via US Mail. Instead, you will receive periodic statements via e-mail which reflect the treasurer's (Shirley Gee for 2006-2007 season) current records, including the credits to your account from raffle ticket sales, scrip, etc. If there are any problems with your statement, reply (via e-mail) to Shirley Gee and discuss the matter.

The fees are straightforward -- $125 per month (unless you have made other arrangements with the Board through your parent representative). At the beginning of the season (or when a player starts with the club), a one time fee of $100 is due for administrative fees, which include liability insurance and other fees we incur at the start of the season. The monthly fees for November and December are the only ones which are reduced because of holiday practice schedules (combined November and December fee = $200). For example, if your child started at the beginning of the season, the dues for November and December, along with the administrative fee, would be a total of $300. After that, every month is $125, regardless of holidays, missed practices due to family commitments, etc.

If there is ever a time when family obligations make it difficult to pay the monthly fees, please send a note with what you are able to pay. Particular details are not necessary -- the treasurer just needs to know approximately when you might be able to pay the difference (either in installments, or in full). If you need further assistance, talk to your parent representative about alternative arrangements. We do not want to put anyone into a financial bind.

Where your money goes

We pay our head coaches and are very fortunate to have dedicated and experienced coaches. Coaching fees amount to approximately $3,000 per month. NCE is particularly fortunate to have some of the most experienced and talented teacher/coaches in California. We also must pay DISC for hourly use of their facilities, averaging over $4,000 per month. Again, we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in which to practice and play. It is, without a doubt, nicer, safer, and far more accommodating that any other facility in Northern California. We also pay smaller amounts for insurance, scholarships for those players whose families may be experiencing financial hardships, and other incidentals which come up in the course of any season.

If you look at the number of players we have on all the teams, factor in the fact that some players pay reduced fees for various reasons, and understand that our operating expenses are, minimally, $7500 per month (some months, they are as high as $10,000), you will see that we are working very hard to keep your fees as low as possible, while still being able to pay our own bills.

The parent representatives and Board members are strictly volunteers who donate their time and energy to try to make the Extreme experience as smooth, fun, and beneficial as it can be for all our players and their families. None is compensated in any way (nor do they receive reduced monthly, uniform, or tournament fees) for all the time and effort they put into their volunteer duties. All have other jobs and family obligations to attend to. If there are problems of communication at any time, please be assured it is simply an oversight on the part of dedicated, but very busy people. Team representative/board member e-mail addresses are available here -- e-mail any questions you might have.
